Mr Lyon, born in Edinburgh in 1961, is a qualified chartered accountant, with over 30 years of experience in fund management, investment banking and private equity.

Kevin spent two years in merchant banking before joining the UKs leading private equity business, 3i plc. In a 17 year career with 3i, Kevin built and developed several successful investment teams leading many companies to profitable exits or successful stock exchange listings. He was responsible for the core private equity business across the UK with a team of 10 Directors and 40 executives. Assets under management were in excess of £600m and new investment was £200m (25 deals) p.a.

He left in 2004 and, in the last ten years, he has served as an independent chairman or non-executive director on 18 boards. Of these, he has taken four to a public listing to raise capital or deliver an exit for shareholders, has sold eight in line with shareholder strategy and orchestrated a secondary MBO of two.

Has held board appointments across a range of industries including energy, telecoms, retail, printing and leisure covering both service and manufacturing.

Kevin is currently chairman of Mono Global Group, a £40m revenue infrastructure support services business,  and of Cutis Developments, an early stage business that runs ten Advanced Skincare Clinics  and also serves as an independent director of DCK Group, one of the world’s leading fashion jewellery retailers.

Previously was chairman of Smart Metering Systems plc, the leading independent provider of gas infrastructure connection services and meter asset management in the UK, while the market capitalisation increased from £60m to £290. Also chairman of Valiant Petroleum, a £200m value AIM listed oil exploration and production company focused on the North Sea.

He held the chairman position in RBG, Wyndeham Press Group, Barney Holdings, Craneware plc, Incline GTS and was a Non-Executive Director on Booker plc, David Lloyd Leisure and Phase 8.

Is a full member of the Institute for Turnaround Professionals and won the Institute of Directors Non-executive Director of the Year (March 2013).

He graduated from Edinburgh University in 1982 and has attended Management courses at INSEAD, IESE and Ashridge.
